The sphere has represented life, as an icon, since the beginning of time. I have taken this form and added the concentric circles to symbolize the rings of a tree. A tree is a symbol of strength, endurance and hope. The solidity and grace of the form conveys a spirituality that is non-denominational. The open circle in the center of the sculpture allows the sun’s rays to pass through. The wedge that is cut into the piece helps to focus the light, like a beam, penetrating the shadow. This wedge suggests the strength of healing against the darkness. |
