| SKATEBOARDER, bronze, 100” x 28” x 70” | ||
My specific site design presents a displacement theme. At first glance, it appears to be a traditional Chinese figure because he is wearing the garb of an ancient scholar. But when one looks closely, it can be seen that this figure is actually zooming into the contemporary world on a skateboard. My piece focuses on the incongruous conjunction between one of the oldest cultures in the world and one in which change is the prevailing characteristic. |
